The business life of Maurice Peebles…
In Progress.
Maurice Peebles's talents for business started while in high school. Maurice learned to market himself as a string bass player guaranteeing spots playing in groups. Learning how to market himself, he then learned how to become his own agent. The skills learned as a unsigned agent introduced Maurice to the business side of music.
While in college he was isolated from his peers and was learning hard lessons on budgeting and cash flow. The local job market was at the time sluggish and jobs were few. Maurice wanted to raise money to stabilize his cash flow while in college. As a result, he studied from the local library and online reading many articles on how to go into business.
While learning how to go into business. Maurice attempted to launch an office supply business. He learns important lessons from current CEO's of successful companies that gradually helps guide his progress.
However, Maurice's beginner's education or lack of education forced him to make a mistake on how to fully research local market competition. That mistake caused him to underestimate market strength and presence.
With an incomplete understanding on the market, he quickly learns that he needed more funding to make a strong presence in the market. Maurice also learned a few lessons on assets and liabilities during his first attempt to launch his first business. The business also secured highly hostel debts almost forcing Maurice into bankruptcy his first year in business. The business failed due to Maurice's inexperience and training. Eleven years later Maurice is still feeling the effects of his first business mistakes.
Sometime within his second year of college in the year of 1999 to 2000 Maurice learned about club promotion from a neighbor. A partnership was in the works to launch a night club in West Virginia. Maurice could secure investors whom offered to invest almost 1.3 of the 1.6 million on the turn key project. Unfortunately, he did not use his investors because the neighbor stated he already had investors. As a matter of fact the neighbor claimed to have an investor.
The neighbor didn't have any investor contacts and by the time Maurice could attempt to re energize investors the lead were cold and investors didn't want to invest. While working full time in a warehouse Maurice injured his back and was bed ridden for weeks he only had one shot and chance. Maurice took a risk with depleted funds on sour deal that he had investors to invest in him. Maurice soon became homeless on account of his neighbor wasn't completely honest. Maurice learned another important lesson in doing business with and liabilities of partnerships and or vs. partners.
Maurice made a critical mistake not confirming this information before turning away his eager investors. When Maurice could discover his neighbor investors either did not exist or were not interested. Maurice was not able to redraw interest of the project from his original investor pool.
In 2000 Maurice decided never again to make such critical mistakes. He spent the last three months of 2000 to develop the outline business plan of Macadamize Plan Concept Enterprise (M.P.C.E.)Maurice spent an added year refining the plan and raising money for the project working up to two jobs in addition to family investment while he stabilized the company development.
Maurice studied business development and wrote business plans. Each plan a test to his talent and his company's ability to reach profitable status.
MPCE received no complaints in its four year history and no failed businesses on account of MPCE's solutions. Maurice was an exceptional business developer. However, business development is very labor intensive. Each business startup project required writing 21 to 40 pages of business page drafts and almost 100 pages total for other forms and letters. In addition, often took months launch. His clients were often high risk clients because they often didn't have experience or funding to finance their project or MPCE comprehensive services.
In April of 2004 Maurice didn't monitor his cash flow and bought a new larger apartment before the financial effects of his job and business could set in. In addition, Maurice hosted a failed social event in February and a second money draining one that was design to promote the other. Februarys was Maurice's birth month but there was no celebration as it was the worst financial month in his young life. Maurice made a gamble in hoping family would generously help pay the rent, but they hesitated which caused late fees. Maurice wasn't able to recover and was soon evicted and homeless again.
Spending almost a year as full time working homeless Maurice was at his breaking point. Working full time building appliances and bikes for stores Maurice kept tiring to keep MPCE in business. Without an office he never gave up on the company. He even secures a job at the local airport as it was a little more stable than building appliances.
In November of 2004 Maurice decided to stop trying to bring about MPCE due to clients not able to pay. The company showed many promise but Maurice wasn't happy with labor requirements and outlook of franchise development and business competition. Moreover, Maurice knew something in the plan wasn't right in a sense because the clients he wanted to reach couldn't pay his very small fees.
Maurice was at a point of retirement from his business aspirations. Until during the time of seven months after leaving Richmond working for various employers Maurice found himself in a position that he wasn't paid or wasn't paid completely for the work he preformed. The problem was so serious that even his home church had a program that owed him money. Maurice stated he had enough. Moreover, he spent spring studying different business opportunities that he could launch.
After three months working 20 or more hours a day he was sent a e-mail from a person who was a member of a activist group that he started more than five years before. The person contacted him and thanked him for his hard work. At the same time within hours he stumbled on a blue print of professional Motivational Speaker and how he went into business.
The two awe-inspiring coincidences struck an ideal into Maurice from those two pieces of information later formed the Maurice Peebles Organization from it. Today Maurice is proud of his accomplishment forming the Maurice Peebles Organization. He is current building business partnerships while networking, developing products and preparing for what will be a very successful year.
